A Thank You

Dear Reader,

Today’s newsletter is about you as the reader. First, I want to say thank you for being here and supporting me. I had an amazing surprise this morning. I sat down with my laptop and my cup of coffee while the house was quiet, aside from the rooster crowing outside my French door. I opened my newsletter program and on my dashboard I saw the number of readers at 1,015. That’s you. You did that! So thank you for joining me and letting me ramble on twice per week and you’re still here.

It may not seem like much, but to me it’s the world. Every time I get on and see my newsletter climb in number of subscribers, it encourages me to keep going. A couple years ago I had stories sitting in files that needed someone to love them. I knew I wanted to share my stories based on my family, though fictional, but I didn’t know if there was an audience. Apparently, there is.

Then last year when I decided to take my love of history and dip my toe in the romance pool while introducing the lovely area of North Idaho that I love for both its beauty and its history, you responded very well again.

So here is what is happening for the future. I now have a website that I finished just last week at www.ancestralpen.com. Please visit and share the heck out of it. Please tell your friends, family, book clubs, bookstores, and libraries.

This week I’m on vacation from work and my focus will be my books. First, I’m purchasing my own ISBNs so that I can pull my books away from Amazon and make them available wide for print. Yes, my ebooks will still be on KU, so don’t panic, I’m not taking those away.

Next, I’m going to finish the Conner genealogy book for my husband’s family. It’s in the polishing and layout phase. It’s time consuming because there are a lot of photos and artwork so I have to create it in a design program.

Then for my historical romance readers I will get back to book four of the Pack Saddle Ranch. The first draft is about half written, so it still has a ways to go.

Once that book is done, I’m going to take a break from the writing for just a little bit. The audio versions of my books are doing nothing on Amazon, which I get. The program they offered isn’t great, and you would need Audible to listen. I can’t afford to hire someone to read my books. It’s just too expensive. Maybe some day I can afford to hire someone with an amazing voice to read my books. In the meantime, I’m thinking about reading my free books myself and putting them on YouTube. I’m still exploring my options for audio, but I’m thinking about it seriously.

After that, I’ll pick up book two in the Beeson series and continue that story in the middle of the Civil War in the South.

Thank you again for being here and for sharing my work. I enjoyed the book signing a couple weekends ago and I’m looking forward to the podcast, again all because some of you said “hey, you should check out this book.” And I love everyone of you for it.
